👇👇👇  Ingredients for Catfish or Magur Fish Curry👇👇👇


- Catfish or Magur Fish pieces ( 2 medium size  Magur fish ) –  600gm

- Green banana or Kacha kola  –  2 pcs

- Cooking Oil –  4 tbsp

- Salt – according to the taste 


Make Paste of:

- Onion, quartered, medium ones- 2 nos.

- Onion Paste - 3 tablespoon

- Cumin paste - 1.5 tsp

- Green Chilli slices  - 10 to 12 as per taste


Powder spices for Fish Curry:

- Salt- 1.5 tsp

- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp

- Red Chilli Powder- 1 tsp



Preparation: How to make Traditional bengali Magur or Catfish curry recipe


  1. Take  Catfish pieces in a bowl and cut it as you choose, then add some salt and rub on the Catfish pieces for 5 minutes. Now wash them and  keep them aside.


  1. Heat 4 tablespoons of cooking oil and Add the Onion paste & cumin paste.


  1. Add Turmeric, Red chili, Salt & some green chili slices to the pan and fry till oil starts separating from the masala. Fry 4 to 5 till a nice aroma comes from them.


  1. Now add Fish pieces to the masala of the pan and fry them too along with the masala for 3 to 4 minutes. 


  1. Add some green banana or kacha kola (2 medium size cut into chunks) fry them too along with the masala for 3 mins.

  2.  Add 2 cups of water to the pan and cover the pan with a lid and let the curry cook on medium low heat for 10 -15 minutes.


  1. After 15 minutes open the lid and  higher the heat for another 2 minutes. After 2 minutes turn off the oven, sprinkle some roasted cumin powder on the curry and serve hot with Steamed Rice.


Notes:

This curry will be the most flavorful, if you are making this curry with live Catfish/Magur Maach. If you do not want to add green bananas, it's fine. And you can make this dish with medium curry. Just reduce the measurement of the water you will add to make the fish curry.This magur fish recipe is simple bengali fish curry recipe.
